Better understanding of our treatment (lexicon)

La Montagne Coupée presents its health chronic. You will find a multitude of practical hints on body care offered by our professional health consultants.
· Are the body treatments refundable by my private group insurance?

Most individual or group insurance companies refund part or all of the massage therapy fees (sometimes with a doctor's prescription). The other body care treatments such as balneotherapy, algotherapy, fangotherapy as well as esthetics are non-refundable.

· I am allergic to seafood (iodine), can I still get a seaweed body wrap?

We generally offer customers with iodine allergies a replacement product for their body wrap such as chlorophyll which offers the same benefits as seaweed or violet clay, which moisturizes, drains and relaxes.

· What are the differences between the foot care treatment (fangotherapy), the foot beauty and the paraffin foot treatment ?

The foot care (fangotherapy) is a treatment for aching feet. We proceed with a foot exfoliation, apply Mount St. Michel mud (anti-inflammatory, pain relieving) followed by a 20-minute wrap before a 10-minute massage to each foot.

The foot beauty treatment is an aesthetic care consisting of a foot soak, an exfoliation, a gentle callus removal, a nail trim followed by a nail polish application.

The paraffin foot treatment may be taken alone or combined with the foot beauty treatment. It moisturizes and soothes dry feet and cracked skin on the heels; the feet are disinfected, a collagen-based cream covered with liquid paraffin is applied, it is left to set for 20 minutes before removing.

· What is the difference between a body peeling with exfoliating cream, with salts and an exfoliation ?

All 3 skin treatments have the same goal which is to remove dead skin cells that clog pores and prevent the skin from breathing, to shade off any skin irregularities or blemishes. The procedure differs depending on which products are used.

The body peeling with exfoliating cream is presented in form of a granulated cream that is applied to the body and left to penetrate a few minutes and then removed with small circular motions. Ideal for dry or sensitive skin types due to it's moisturizing elements throughout the entire exfoliation.

The body peeling with salts is a treatment which combines dead sea salts and essential oils applied by means of a skin massage, followed by a plastic body wrap covered with a heated blanket and left to rest for 20 minutes. The salts are removed either in a shower or a therapeutic bath. It is both re-mineralizing and energizing.

The exfoliation included in the Vitality Enhancer is performed with a mixture of 100% natural mineral powders. Applied on the body, it is left to dry before being removed with quick short strokes leaving a gentle exfoliation. It refines the skin.

· What is polarity?

Created by Dr. Randolph Stone, polarity arose from occidental disciplines (osteopathy, naturopathy, neurology) and oriental disciplines (acupressure, Ayurvedic medicine, element and chakra theory). No oil is used. Polarity is intended to harmonize the energetic circulation in the body. Light, medium and/or deep pressures are used to connect specific points to affect the energy currents and the magnetic poles. Receiving a polarity treatment is a subtle way to relax, to listen to ourselves and touch the essential. When the energy moves freely, a person is in contact with its full life potential.

· Hot stone massage. What is it ?

While the therapist is massaging your body with hot stones, other stones are gently positioned on or under your body to irradiate it with heat. This surrounding heat comforts and eases muscle stiffness, calms pain, activates the metabolism, favors the elimination of toxins in the body and produces a gentle exfoliation that will bring you to a state of calmness and peace of mind.

· 3 types of manicures and foot beauty treatments are available. Which one should I choose?
